Palmetto Custom Woodworking was founded in 1984 by owner, Bill Szigety. After having built several kitchens on the job site, Bill was commissioned to build some bookcases, which he completed on his back porch. This was the beginning of Palmetto Custom Woodworking.

As the company's reputation for a quality product spread, so did the need for adequate manufacturing space. After three years of sharing rented space, Bill was able to build his own facility in 1987. The original building was 3200 sq ft and felt enormous at that time. Four additions to the building and sixteen skilled and dedicated employees later, the company is thriving.
